On the 21st to 23rd of February, a study field-trip was held in Inverness. We visited a few sustainable buildings, and a development project which is Findhorn Eco-village Park was one of them. In Findhorn, I’ve found something that totally different than normal sustainable design approaches. In my point of view, they are practicing an ideology that makes up all of their ways of life. This ideology is described as ‘sustainable life’. Why I said so, because in Findhorn, they plant their own foods, generate their own energy, cook and have their lunch together everyday, generate incomes through in-house activities, and have their own currency. These are really sustainable than any other communities on this world.
Below are some pictures taken in Findhorn. As we can see they try to make the least impact on earth and try to be a part of nature. The buildings have a very minimal footprint; all the materials whom they used were lightweight construction. The size is just what they are really needed, not too big and oversize. I am really sure they are able to have a bigger house, but they prefer not to. Let have a deep thought and learn something from them.
